The name Country & Western appeared shortly after the Second World War and replaced Hillbilly Music in the parade hits of American popular music, which can be translated as "hillbilly music". Just as Rhythm'n' Blues replaced the equally pejorative term Race Music for black music, Country & Western has given rise to multiple genres, such as Rock'n Roll.
From both blues and different European folklore, or Hawaiian music, it is in the South and Southwestern United States that the genre is predominant. Like all popular music, Country & Western includes many styles such as bluegrass, exclusively acoustic music from Kentucky (the Bluegrass State), country rock or Cajun music from Louisiana and Western Swing, a mix of jazz and folk.
With the advent of the LP, and before its large-scale commercialization, the boundaries between African-American and white music were relatively porous. Jimmie Rodgers, one of the founders of Country-Music, recorded with Louis Armstrong and Hank Williams, the first great star of the genre, called himself a blues singer in the late 1940s.
Since the 1950s, Nashville has been the centre of Country-Music and one of the capitals of American popular music.

Gotta keep on movingGotta find a way to get close to youHelp me keep on moving, gottastay on my feet if I wanna get close to youI’m not bad at moving, when I gotta,And I just don’t know what else to do Gotta keep my head up, everyNow and then look up to the skyBeen so low I don’t recall what the Leaves on the trees look likeI’m doing my best,But won’t you help me with the rest Oh while I’m still breathing I’m moving fastIf you want me to stayYou gotta ask If only I could love youI would spend all night getting close to youIf only I could love you I would Be the one you could call yoursOh it sounds so pretty, But if I don’t show you know I’m so unsure Oh while I’m still breathing I’m moving fastIf you want me to stay You gotta ask I won’t say it won’t work if youSay you’ll do the same Hold myself still,StopAnd get myself to stayBut every time I tryYou just slip off to the sideAnd I keep moving Oh while I’m still breathing I’m moving fastIf you want me to stayYou gotta ask x2

IDLE HOURVERSE There’s a place down the street
Where my friends congregate And when we sit on those bar stools We’re not alone 10 am the lights are on Beer’s cold, the whiskey’s strong And we’re drowning those memories One by one CHORUS You can meet me at the idle hour Where the juke box plays all those country songs If you’re tryin’ to hang on
To a love that’s dead and gone With too many reasons not to go back home
VERSE The neon lights are bright Even tho it’s past midnight And the band’s packed up and moved on Stare at the clock on the wall Bartender says last call And I start missin’ her most of all
CHORUS So, you can meet me at the idle hour Where the juke box plays all those country songs So if you’re tryin’ to hang on To a love that’s dead and gone With too many reasons not to go back home Too many reasons not to go back home

Been laying low, my head downHaven’t stopped to look aroundIn a while, I’mHolding on to something But I can’t tell you what Left me thinking you were All that I had Oh I wanted you, so bad Oh let me goOh let me go Spent so much time pretendingThat I didn’t mind when you’dLift me up so high,Just to say goodbye againCan’t pretend that I didn’t feel the thrillBut you left me Lonely still Oh let me goOh let me go And everytime I’d try Oh I couldn’t catch your eye And I Grew so tired of the Shadow by my sideThat ICouldn’t help butPack away my timeAnd reclaim, what was mine Oh let me goOh let me go Oh, too much time on my hands Couldn’t seem to keep you backOh, too much time on my hands And now all I can do is ask Oh let me goOh let me go x3

Rain drops fallI’m going to lose controlWhy don’t you just pay smallAttention to me Hear me callLook at my broken soulOut of this deep dark holeCome and rescue me Can’t you see that I’m reaching out for youTake my hand and we’ll try something new
I felt tallAble to break a wallThought we had touched the goalJust you and me Now I’m smallYou chose to let me fallLike an old used dollYou’ve abandoned me Can’t you feel that I’m still loving youIn my dreams we were meant to be two Raindrops fallI’m going to lose controlWhy don’t you just pay smallAttention to me Hear me callLook at my broken soulOut of this deep dark holeCome and rescue me Can’t you feel that I’m still loving youIn my dreams we were meant to be two Can’t you see that I’m reaching out for youTake my hand and we’ll try something new
