That’s right! We make the difference. A bucolic landscape is above all a poetic representation of that landscape. This means that the music we call ‘bucolic’ is mostly acoustic, rather soft and light, often in small ensembles, based on classical harmony and straight out of nineteenth-century classical music. For those who like it, it makes you want to wander through the countryside, breathe in the scent of pretty flowers, see animals and butterflies!
‘You might ask, ‘Isn’t country the same thing? Well, not for us.
We’ve tried to classify under the word ‘country’ all those pieces that have something more traditional in them, an instrument or a dance, and are performed in a more joyful or festive spirit. That makes quite a difference, but it doesn’t mean that a country tune can’t also be bucolic….
Finally, to help you out again, country would be more of a genre and bucolic more of a feeling.
